Top 10 albumsof the Decade

These are my top 10 albums of the decade but actually since 1997 when this decade's 'zeitgeist' began. I didn't order them and decided I should let my audience(you) decide what you think the order is.

Microphones - The Glow Pt.2
'Lo fi' folk but it has more than just boring acoustic guitar. I don't usually listen to the whole album but the first like 6 songs are really good. I'd listen to this while playing Fallout 3 because it matches the 'aesthetic'

Sigur Ros - Aegitus Bjurn(sp?)
This album was different. This is the album to get if you want something icelandic and weird but thought Bjork sounded too "James Bondish". It's like 'post-rock' without the lame crescendos that only GY!BE can pull off and 'dream pop' mixed together. There are themes of 'innocence' as you can tell by the fetus and the people with down syndrome that are in their music videos. I think they miss being in the 'womb'

Bjork - Homogenic
This album was for people who want something weird and icelandic but thought Sigur Ros was too 'gay'. It's basically Kid A but recorded a few years before and instead of Thom Yorke's whining it's some melodramatic/pausal person who looks Asian but is Icelandic(Island nation north of the British 'Isles').

Radiohead - Ok Computer
This album really captures the 'zeitgeist' of the past 13 years although some of the songs kind of suck. Pink Floyd + Cocteau Twins + reading-but-not-really-getting-Kafka. Am I the only bro who likes the last 2 songs on this album? Remember when Karma Police was on Now 3 along with 'Sex and Candy'?

The Knife - Silent Shout
Artsy Techno that I couldn't really see anyone dancing too. Mad props to Northern Europe though, 3 albums on this list already.

AnCo - MPP
This is a 'culmination' of many different styles. It already spawned 'Glo fi'/'chillwave' and I feel like the term Post-MPP will be tossed around a lot soon.

Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
Chicago Techno + shoegaze + New Order it's really good. I had to stop listening to them for a while because this pleb said they kind of sounded like "Metro Station" but I got over it.

Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun
It's like if electronic jam stuff was good and did interesting things instead of wank around. It sounds like the album cover looks.

Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
Interpol is for bros who are bummed that Joy Division has a limited discography. Idk if some of the lyrics are ironic or genuinely bad. subway she is a porno/stories are boring and stuff. They dress pretty well.

Butterscotch Stanely - It's a Shame that Everybody Loves Raymond
<15 listeners on lastfm!!!!

Anna OST

^^Ifelt like this picture better illustrated the 'aesthetic' of the album

French Pop with Anna Karina, Serge Gainsbourg and some guy who is not Anna Karina or Serge Gainsbourg(the only 2 French music artists besides Debussy and Justice(Daft Punk Sucks)worth noting). I don't speak French but I think the songs have to do with 'love' and maybe 'heartbreak'. Cool album to have on your ipod/zune maybe worth a listen or 2

9.1 but really it's like a 6.3

Charlie Brown Christmas

I love this album(ironically)

Mahmoud Awad - Sheikh To The Future

So someone just fucked up a random arab/persian/whatev album and made it psychadelic. I could just drink a lot of cough medicine/pop a lot of benadryl and listen to any 'normal' middle eastern music and have the same results tho. There is clearly an Animal Collective influence on this music though.

5.4 unnecessary
